Auto insurance through an independent broker
Whether you drive a car, truck, van, motorcycle or another type of vehicle, we can talk through coverage built around your needs. Because we are not tied to one insurance company, we can look at options from the insurers we work with and show you what each one includes.
If you have an unusual vehicle or situation, call us to confirm what we can arrange. Vehicles used for business are treated differently, and our commercial insurance page explains more.
What Ontario auto insurance includes
Ontario sets a standard package of coverages that every auto policy must include. The legal minimum for third-party liability is $200,000, and many people choose a higher limit.
Third-party liability
Helps pay if you are responsible for injuring someone or damaging their property with your vehicle, including legal costs.
Accident benefits
Pays for things like medical and rehabilitation costs and some income replacement if you are hurt in an accident, no matter who caused it. The details depend on the policy.
Direct compensation property damage
Helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle and its contents when another driver is at fault, through your own insurer.
Uninsured automobile
Helps if you are hurt or your vehicle is damaged by a driver who has no insurance, or by a hit and run.
Optional coverage you can add
Beyond the standard package, you can add extra protection. Ask us what fits your car and how you drive.
Collision
Helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle after a collision, whether or not you are at fault. A deductible usually applies.
Comprehensive
Covers things like theft, vandalism, fire, hail and hitting an animal. A deductible usually applies here too.
Optional endorsements
Add-ons such as a rental car while yours is being repaired, or protection for a newer vehicle. What is offered depends on the insurer.
What affects your car insurance quote
Every insurer weighs things a little differently. These are factors insurers commonly look at:
- Your driving record
- The vehicle you drive
- How you use it, such as commuting or pleasure driving
- Where you live
- Your claims history
- The coverage and deductible you choose
Comparing several insurers is the easiest way to see how these factors play out for you.
What to have ready when you call
You do not need everything to start, but these make a quote faster:
- Your driver's licence details
- Your vehicle information, including the VIN
- Your current policy or renewal date
- Your driving and claims history
Bundle auto with home, condo or renters
Many insurers offer discounts when you insure more than one thing with them. Ask us to look at both your car and your home insurance, condo insurance or renters insurance together.
Coverage, eligibility and pricing depend on the insurer's underwriting and the policy wording. Information on this site is general and is not a quote or a policy.
